Teen Pregnancy Poem

T E E N P R E G N A N C Y

By: Rachael Robinson, and Meagan Saini

young and confused, not enough food
babies at home crying
mommy feels like dying
her life seems to always change around
she feels like she’s on a roller coaster about to dip down
lonely and depressed
never gets enough rest
having no job
all she wants to do is sob
was this all a mistake?
or is it a risk she wants to take?
life as a teen mom came out so wrong
she thought she would be a singer and one day produce a song
reality finally struck her like lightning in the sky
and she began to realize
the only thing she will hear to sleep is her babies midnight cries
this is real and this is her life
although she's only 16 and not trying to be a WIFE.
beside all the baby drama
she always fights with her momma
her own mother wont be there
and her father doesn't even care
aside from this, she has no MONEY
all she has in her cabinets, is expired HONEY
she's young and BEAUTIFUL, but then again POOR,
remember she's only a TEEN; she's 16 at war.
how do you prevent this? Why are you asking me?
were only here to tell you, not to have sex at 16.
to all the girls, and boys TOO!
don't have sex until you know your TRUE.

Summary

Throughout the poem teen pregnancy my partner Meagan and I try to share the reality of teens struggling during their pregnancy as a young mother. The tone of the poem is depressing and realistic about people of this generation. Some examples of the sad tone is "Having no job all she wants to do is sob." (Line 8-9) The poem has several examples of similes and metaphors throughout the beginning. An example of a simile is "reality finally struck her like lightning in the sky." (Line 14) Many get the perception that the point of view of this poem is only one side of the story and that is the negative. To help the readers understand this is realistic we decided to share the negative outcomes of pregnancy although there is many positive situations. In conclusion we try to share that some people struggle dramatically throughout there lives, even innocent teenagers.

Home sweet Home

After struggling several nights on the island I began to adore the wildlife surrounding me. There was pleanty of food to help me survive at least 2 months. Hopefully the food isnt needed and I will be rescued sometime soon. I began to become familiar with the trees and rocks so I wouldnt loose my campsite. One day I was collecting more leaves and branches for my bed on the hillside. As i looked into the distance I saw a black spec in the ocean. Once the spec came closer I realized it was a boat. "I'm going to be rescued!" I thought. To catch the boats attention I used my last emergency flare. The boat began to sail torward me. I never felt so secure and revealed in my life. The thought of meeting my family again and coming home made me smile.

Conflict

These past few days surviving on the island have been hectic. My only jacket that could help me support these stormy nights had a rip. The fact that I have not been rescued yet, made me realize how long important items could last. The fruits that I have collected the previous day are running out . To prevent starvation I am planning on searching for more fruits this evening. After finding a rip in my only jacket the day began to get worse. My sandals were breaking apart after walking with them on the hard rocky ground. To prevent any blisters I am planning on making a pair of shoes with leaves. Life on the island makes me lonely and tired because I was not read for this unexpected tragedy. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day and I will find more food that can last a long period of time.

Memories and Adventures

After awakening from a rough night, I began to think of my schedule for the day. I decided to rest a little so later on I can explore the surroundings. Once I layed in my bed of leaves I began of stare at the clouds. The clouds passing by the rising sun made me realize that I missed my family. Before me and my family use to take road trips to Las Vegas to share quality time. These trips were fun and memorable ways to spend time together. Tears began to run down my cheek once I thought of my loved ones wondering where I was. Questions ran through my head like "where are they?" "are they looking for me?"or "will they forget about me?". I didnt want to spend the day sulking so i decided to start exploring and collect more leaves and food. As i was exploring the island i heard a loud roar and saw birds fly into the distance. I screamed with terror and came across a...

Survival in the tropic.. day 2

As I woke up from the uncomfortable leaves I formed last night, I began to wonder how i can survive on this abandoned island. After being exposed to the the outdoors overnight i decided that i must create a shelter and gather food. I'm not us to sleeping on the ground so i woke up with uncomfortable back aches that disturbed my sleep. Once i was settled and ready i decided to explore the island and collect shelter and food. The birds and animals made mysterious and beautiful whistles that echoed across the trees. The tropics is known to have lions and dangerous animals so i decided to create a shelter in the trees. To create a settle shelter i decided to use leaves and branches. Once i put the branches and leaves on the top of a tree i created a home that can protect me from dangerous animals. The next issue that i must resolve was find the banana tree that I found the previous day. I must use the bananas to help me survive from this life changing experience.

Fearful and lost

As I arrived on the island, I was shocked and afraid of the situation. How will I survive? Where will I get food? Will I ever be rescued? These questions ran through my head as soon as I explored my surroundings. Once my stomach growled I realized I have not eaten anything today and began to wonder where I can find food. Passing several trees that looked alike made me feel lost and confused. But once I stepped onto something soft, I realized that there was a banana tree. For a minute I felt excited that my hunger will not be a problem and there must be enough for me to survive. I grabbed the banana and cleaned it with m sweater and began to ate my dinner for the day. After exploring the island, I went back to the scar from the plane crashing and met up with the rest of the passengers.
